The Torrent Scene Jargon Language


Torrent:

Seeder: A seeder is the person who is sharing his files to the others.

Leecher: The people who are receiving the files.[/indent]

Tracker: The thing that keeps track of who has what and what pieces
There are many trackers out there, some public and some private

Swarm: This is the total group involved with the torrent.

Ratio: The amount you have downloaded compared to the amount you have uploaded.

Reseed: Asking someone to repost a torrent that has no seeds

Movie:

Cam: A cam release is pretty straight forward a movie that has been recorded by a videocamera, mostly used for new movies.

WORKPRINT: A release from a movie that is not finished, this means parts can be missing,
and effects aren't fully developed.

TeleSync (TS): This is a cam version of a movie that is synced with high quality sound.

R5: This is a dvdrip from region5 (east-europe) that has been syncd with english sound.

SCREENER: This is a release made for movie rental and journalism, the only disadvantage is hat there is always a overlay for non-copy reasons.

DVD-RIP: This is a like it says a rip from a dvd.

DVD-R: This is the full dvd with nothing ripped out.

HDTV Rip: This is mostly used for series and means that it has been captured by a stream from tv, satalite,..

Varia:

Crackfix: This is a fix for the games crack, this means that the games wasn't cracked decently and wil not work decent without this.

Nuke(d): A nuke is when a torrent is not by the scene rules.
(missing sound, bad crack, ...)
