With the aim of producing consumer Blu-ray 3D Home Theatre products by 2010, Panasonic have opened an advanced authoring laboratory in Hollywood. As far as the consumer is concerned, Panasonic plan to develop a Plasma 3D Full HD home theater system.

Eisuke Tsuyuzaki, Managing Director of Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory stated: "Panasonic recognizes that for 3D FHD to succeed, just like Blu-ray, collaboration on research, development and production with studios and content providers is absolutely essential".

I think the technology will be like Imax theaters, it won't require you to wear crappy red / cyan glasses. I also am not 100% sure but if you did need to wear glasses it will be Polarised 3D glasses.

Also the other real downside to this new technology is that you will probably need to buy standalone Blu-ray player and a new HDTV that supports this technology, but it will be definitely worth having. I enjoy 3D movies at Imax Theatres.

There are 3DTV's that don't require glasses anymore, I've seen one. But it's not that impressive yet, for now... It's very limited and can't be compared to the version you get in IMAX theatres.

That's going to be awesome. I don't know if it's just me but I went to see a movie (can't remember which) where everyone had to wear these glasses for a better experience and I didn't notice much difference. Infact I enjoyed watching the movie without the glasses a lot more o.O

I seen the 'Nightmare before Christmas' in the cinema recently, it had been re-released using this new 3D technology....

Yeah it was ok but not mind-blowing. Definitely don't see what the fuss is about Hollywood is going crazy saying everything will be in 3D from now on etc., personally I can't see it happening. Yeah the 3D works but the edges of the screen are blurred when you have the glasses on. Personally I can't see it catching on, all these companies spending their money on it thinking it's the next big thing should do some consumer research and see if people really want to watch EVERYTHING in 3D from now on.
