Source

Required tools:

-Revolution loader v2 (included in files, bottom of page)
-SimPack from LordSte’s post on rin.ru (included in files, bottom of page)
-Latest Steam install
-FEAR2 images that include the SIM/SID files
-WinRar

Step One:

Extract the disc images with WinRar

Step Two:

In Disc1 Folder you should now have files such as these, just remove the spaces in between “Project” and “Origin”

Project Origin_disk1.sim -> ProjectOrigin_disk1.sim

and so on.

Same for Disc2, just do the same, remove the spaces.
Now put both discs content in the same folder. If you’re asked to overwrite, do so.

Step Three:

Copy the SimPack.exe into that same folder you just put both discs in.

Step Four:

Go to Start - Run - type “cmd” (without the ” )
We’re now in the default folder, we need to get to our fear 2 extracted folder we also put the SimPack.exe in. So cd (change directory) to that folder like this: (My files are in C:/d1/)

Posted Image

As you can see in my pic there I start at the default point, I cd to c:/ to get to my c: (as my extracted files are in C:/d1/) then I cd to my d1 dir by doing “cd d1″, once you are there run these commands (As shows above. You can copy the links below and right click into the cmd window and press paste)

(SimPack and both Discs extracted and you are here with cmd)
Change the end, c:\FEAR2 to whereever you’d like your game to be.

simpack x ProjectOrigin_disk1.SIM -g16451 -kF183E845B8A0A340CBD6F7922427D7C1 c:\FEAR2
simpack x ProjectOrigin_disk1.SIM -g16452 -k4E185BE9D186A792EC1E1A03FED362C2 c:\FEAR2
simpack x ProjectOrigin_disk1.SIM -g16454 -kE34CE97D2DC32B73AF5536FD3F07EDF0 c:\FEAR2

Step Five:

Go into C:\FEAR2 (or wherever you extracted it) and copy the content of the rev-loader_v2.rar there.
Create a steam_appid.txt in that directory and just write 16450 in it, nothing else, and save it.

Step Six:

Edit the rev.ini file (In extracted dir):

[Loader]

# Specify the name of the application to load.
# You can also specify the command line.
#
ProcName=FEAR2.exe

# Specify the location of the original steamclient.dll
# which comes with Steam client
# You can comment this line out if the game doesn’t use it
#
SteamClientDll=YOUR STEM INSTALL DIRECTRORY SUCH AS =C:\PROGRAM FILES\STEAM\steamclient.dll

6) Launch the Loader.exe and enjoy

Nice one Tony, excellent. But the crack will arrive in 2 or 3 days so I think every human can stand a little bit! I can :D

Played the game.. just awesome!
Well.. actually all they did was pump up the graphics and leave most of everything else the same.. and that isn't a bad thing.
The game is great as it is. Scary, spooky, with lots of action and a good storyline.
To get the full experience, you have to know the story. They do explain it, but not enough for a person new to the series to really get the full story.
Only played for about an hour and a half, but it's great so far. New awesome hud and some of the baddies actually explode :)
I'm really glad they didn't lose any of the old coolness regarding melee attacks, but the grenade shockwave is more realistic and less fun. Grenades in the original series had a really awesome bubble-like shockwave, but the new one is kind'a just.. realistic..
Not much of an improvement on the physics side either, some of the baddies keep dying in an unnatural position and getting too close to a bottle sends it flying, but there are some things you couldn't do in the original series, like moving stuff for use as cover.
Overall, I'm satisfied. I'd buy it if I had the money. I bet the online part is quite good too.

Just finished it.
The DIE rls, 'twas. Worked great.
First, I installed it, played for 1.5hrs and the next day (12.feb) my system disk had a problem, which took a day to solve. Yet, I really don't think it was because of the game or the crack. I guess we'll know tomorrow.
Aaanyway, didn't have any problems with going through any parts of the game. Finished it with 2 deaths, one of them was getting hit by a falling bus (panicked) and the other was due to a bug - I fell through a floor and out of the map. Be cautious of finding yourself too close to the ground without crouching. Jumping seems to help.
Other than a few glitches, nothing very bad, the game was great. I had a good 45fps throughout the game.
Was somewhat spooky at times, in a good way, but didn't have any of those srsly scary moments the first F.E.A.R. had.
Not being in control of saves was a really good way to make the player act really carefully. Yes, you can't save, but fortunately autosaves aren't far apart.
The ending was weird and quite awesome. Won't spoil, though. The storyline isn't much, but the effects make up for it.
Also, as I've previously stated, it would be wise to finish the previous FEAR-s, since they're a bit connected. Although if you don't want to, the game explains what's going on, but you just won't understand the significance of any of the names not connected to the FEAR2 storyline but appearing on the informational tablets. It might get a bit confusing.
Great game. Darkness and headphones recommended.

teaser: I love games that let you handle heavy machinery.

Any way to get the multiplayer working? The game isn't letting me join any servers because of the patch.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found a way.

well i'm playing interval 5 inside the so called 'Nurse Station'. So far the game has been awesome. The firefights, slow mo and the F.E.A.R factor are all pretty impressive. It does not add much to the original game other than a graphics update. But the original game mechanics were so good, that the way they have re-done is commendable. It did not scare me as it did on F.E.A.R 1. Maybe thats because i'm used to the F.E.A.R atmosphere now. But the game is totally awesome.

Grr....... Cant choose what to play between DOW2, FEAR2 and COD4 :(

I've just finished the game. WOW fear2 is my second favorite game (after cod4)...
The ending is....WTF??? Fear3 or expansion "Child of Alma"?

I'm totally impressed! It was excellent gaming experience and I recommend it to everyone!!!

Alma FTW!

Just this minute completed the game... It was very well made and looked amazing but I feel it left a little to be desired on the scare factor + ending over all.

Also it annoyed me that sometimes I'd have to reload the last save because it didn't play properly E.G. **SPOILERS**

On the nurses room level the game bugged out twice: Once at the elevator you pry open and Alma grabs you.. I shook her off but the doors didn't actually open, leaving me stuck in limbo on an empty map (until I reloaded). The other was actually getting to the nurses office and opening the door to see the office chair there but as if the lift had already descended before I swiped the door open. I also fell through the map a couple of times.

It didn't make the game any less enjoyable/generally uber to play, but, annoyances are annoying (hense being annoyances).

P.s I saved the big gun (only used it once or twice) thinking I'd need it for something monstrously huge coming up on the level, but again, the game was over before I found anything exciting to use it on.

TIP for people who haven't played F.E.A.R 2 yet and plan to.. when you get the big guns.. USE THEM
