Which one do you prefer ?

Hi,

This is my first message on this place. I have just experienced the download of hd movies with the help of rlslog, and I started by buying a rapidshare premium account. I paid just for one month 6,99 euros.

But I quickly discovered that the day download ratio was only 2.66Go. :(

... so I decided to buy a Megashares for 10$, because it has download unlimited. :)

The bad news is that it's very (fu****) SLOW !

Posted Image

A the end there is not a good solution aven if you pay for it. (rapidshare + 100Go = 16,98 euros/mois)

Thx

Wouldnt it have been better to use Megaupload instad of MS?

I dont download alot of HD stuff, so 2.6gigs is enough for me per day :)

agreed, i used public trackers for an age (mainly mininova) now i only use private trackers and a seedbox 2.5gb for $8 euro/month but thats only storage so i can quickly d/l a film/etc, get a good ratio then move on to something else and i am sure there are better plans available. else just use the public sites for free, on popular files speeds will be great.

I use FlashGet to download without an account and I get a consistent 200kbps for a single file while I'm seeding torrents at 90% of my bandwidth so give that a try. Otherwise it might be your ISP's low bandwidth availability for connections to MS servers.

I've used both and Megashares is better by far. Cheaper, quicker (for me anyway), one link downloads (instead of rapidshares 30/40+) and no rar extracting (sometimes twice!) at the end of it.

MegaShares is fast for me, 2.5Mbit/s all the time as a free user, and no wait time. Sadly, the only content posted are the full files, and the download limit is 500MB.

I'd definitely get an MS account over RS.

With Internet Download Manager you are sure to max out your speed on MS. I personally get 1.2MB/S constantly when using IDM plus you won't have to unrar stuff. ;)

Which OCH to use is unimportant.
If you know little details about proxies and IP's then you can download everywhere as much as you want with full speed whitout to pay. That's much more interesting than wasting money.

I have both RS and MS. I use MS mostly on movies, games and large files. Also they have fast uploaders. I use RS for apps and TV Shows.

Or i normally just use my server, transfer RS files there, extract and download.

I had RS until they lowered their cap. Even though I used flashget, unraring was always a pain, and speeds never went above 1.2-1.5mb/s with 8 downloads going. That being said, RS has TONS of material on it.

I mainly use MS now, couldn't be happier. Rarely get below 4mb/s, routinely get 10mb/s. Plus, I never have to unrar. Problem is it can be difficult to find non-blockbusters older than 3 years or so. Good thing they have a built in search (which sucks, but is still useable).

Btw, RS is based in Switzerland while MS is (I believe) based in western US. Assuming you live in Europe, it would make sense that RS is much faster than MS.

RS is quick and I've been using them for ages but my premium account has been terminated due to "downloading illegal content". Isn't just about anything on RS technically illegal. I guess I'll have to try another service.

I don't think they do that. What I do think is that your account has been scammed. Contact rapidshare to reset your password and all will be well again ;). Good luck.

What's this new bullshit with rapidshare? I guess they're done even for free downloads.

We regret that currently we have no available slots for free users. Unfortunately you will have to wait 2 minutes, this will allow us to continue to provide our service to our Premium users. Afterwards it will be checked again if you can access the file. If you do not want to wait that long, become Premium member

Please note, the server is not going to check again within the next 2 minutes if downloading is possible again. To provide a fair platform, all user get the same options.

I get the same speeds from Rapidshare that I get from Megashares... around 10-12 MB/s - megashares is better also because it is a single file, and there is no pausing/slowing down to download individual RAR archives. Megaupload is good too :D

Well... Got Phished?

It is really a question of the philosophy - mu ist quite fast - but not from everywhere.
RS on the other hand provides the same speed all over the world - it doesn't really matter how close you are to switzerland (besides, switzerland got the best IT-Infrastructure around the globus)...
